Dr Wilson Totten, a medically qualified executive with over 20 years experience in international pharmaceutical businesses, moved to ProStrakan as CEO in 2004. Previously, he was on the main board of Shire plc as Group R&D Director and, before that, held senior posts with Astra, Fisons, 3M and Eli Lilly. Wilson has wide international experience of the pharmaceutical sector covering all phases of drug development and commercial aspects such as licensing, joint ventures and business development.

  Paul Garvey joined ProStrakan in April 2007.  He is a Chartered Accountant who has spent the majority of his working life in industry.  He joined the Group from Axis-Shield plc, the Scottish-based healthcare diagnostics company, where he was Finance Director and Company Secretary for the past seven years.  Prior to that, Paul held positions as Finance Director and Managing Director of three other industrial groups involved in the engineering, chemicals and construction services sectors.  He has a BBS from Trinity College, Dublin.

Nigel Atherton has over 20 years experience in the healthcare area. Following his PhD Nigel worked in Clinical Pathology in the NHS until joining the pharmaceutical industry in 1989. He was Head of Clinical Pathology at Fisons until moving into Project Management in 1994. He has held a number of Project Management positions at Fisons, CIBA, Novartis and Shire during which time he also gained his MBA. Nigel joins ProStrakan from Shire where he was most recently Senior Vice President Strategic Planning and Portfolio Management. Nigel brings with him extensive development experience including successful US and European development and registrations, M&A, in-licensing and partnering experience and portfolio management.

After working for a city law firm, gaining valuable commercial experience in the pharmaceutical business for five years, Andrew McLean joined Shire Pharmaceuticals as Head of Legal Affairs, seeing this company through to its flotation on the London Stock Exchange in 1996. In 1996, he joined Recordati SpA as its International Business Lawyer. He joined ProStrakan in October 1997. He is a member of the ABPI's Legal Committee

Abid Karim is Head of European Commercial Operations, and is responsible for the Group's sales and marketing operations across Europe.  ProStrakan has businesses in most of the major territories in the EU.  He has worked at ProStrakan for six years and prior to joining he held positions with: Novartis, Parke Davis and Astra in various commercial roles.

Tom Stratford is responsible for the licensing activities of the group. Since joining ProStrakan in 1997 he has previously held the posts of Discovery Director and Director of Business Development, based both in Boston MA and Scotland. Thomas has a PhD in Molecular Developmental Biology from Kings College, London. He has previously worked in research groups at Glaxo in Greenford and Ware and an academic placement at Tufts Medical School, Boston, US.

Mark has lived and worked in Germany, USA, Canada and the UK for Bayer, Shire and Abbott Laboratories. At Bayer he was Senior VP, Head of Global Strategic Marketing and Business Development/ M+A and a member of Bayer Pharmaceutical's Management Committee. Mark performed the same role for Shire and was a member of Shire's Executive Committee. During 13 years at Abbott he held a number of senior sales and marketing posts, latterly as VP Anti-Virals for the US Pharmaceutical Division based in Chicago, where he launched Kaltera, a $billion plus HIV therapy. He is also a Non-Executive Director of Abcam PLC.
